Design Leadership

Leading a design team at Vanguard to bring the firm's investor-first approach to cash. I've taken a new financial product, Vanguard's high-yield cash account, from zero to meaningful scale, helped expand the firm's share of wallet, and reshaped Vanguard's client experience across our digital channels to make room for savings and spending.

Consulting

Ten years of design consulting, helping organizations from start-ups and non-profits to industry leaders like GE, Microsoft, and Nationwide do things they'd never done before. Each engagement meant learning a new world fast, and I leaned on the same combination every time: curiosity, pattern recognition, and a firm grip on reality.

Teaching

Taught interaction design to graduate and undergraduate students at Carnegie Mellon's Human-Computer Interaction Institute, lectured on the history and fundamentals of the discipline, and helped prepare them for careers in user-centered research, UX design, and product management.

In studio, I taught students to treat design as a conversation and guided them as they learned to try ideas out, give and receive feedback, and build the skill of getting excited about the new forms their ideas take through contact with other people.
